LEARN TO SKATE

Learn to Skate is a great way to start ice skating. Our program follows Learn to Skate USA guidelines and is endorsed by US Figure SkatingUSA Hockey, and US Speedskating.  Each session includes skate rental, a 20-minute group lesson, and structured practice time. Beginner-level skaters participate in supervised games and practice time with skating assistants when not in group lessons.

Skate and Shoot sessions are an opportunity for hockey players of all ages to get on the ice to work on their skills or to play a light scrimmage. We offer multiple skate and shoot session types that are restricted to certain age levels – Adult, Youth, and Family sessions. Each session is capped at 25 players and 2 goaltenders. Full equipment is required for all Skate & Shoot sessions.  See our Skate & Shoot Schedule for the latest scheduled sessions, along with current pricing information.

FIGURE SKATING

Figure skaters can practice during any of our public open skating sessions.  Several private figure skating coaches and clubs utilize our facility to operate private and semi-private figure skating lessons to take your skating to the next level.  Skaters who have mastered Basic and Freestyle skills can also advance to full USFSA membership to continue skating or competing as part of a figure skating team.

As an on-demand rental facility, our hours can be quite dynamic.  Most weekdays, we have someone at our facility during regular business hours. However, it’s best to check our Ice Schedule page to view the current events to ensure the building is open and ready for your visit.  There is always staff on hand when an event is ongoing, but the building may not be open, or staff may not be on-site if there are no events scheduled.

Usually, around age 3 or 4 is a good age for toddlers to try ice skating for the first time.  This doesn’t mean you can’t take your child ice skating earlier, though.  You can try if you want to see how they’ll react to being on the ice and how they’ll behave at the rink, but an average 4-year-old will pick up skating faster than an average 2 or 3-year-old.  The Canandaigua Knights Youth Hockey and Learn to Skate programs generally start beginner skaters at age 4 as part of their programs.  Both organizations offer hockey or skater programs that do not require any prior skating or hockey experience.

Yes!  Canandaigua Braves hockey games regularly occur between November through February each year.  Check our Ice Schedule page for the latest information on when games are occurring.

Our hockey or skating programs offer online registration through our Registration Portal, but most events also allow for walk-in registration at the time of the event.  Keep in mind, though, that some events may sellout from online sales.

Yes, absolutely!  We offer birthday party packages for kids’ parties that can either occur during our regularly scheduled open skating times, or you can also privately rent the ice to have a private birthday that is open to only you and your guests.  Contact us to get started scheduling your party!
