As the Greater Canandaigua Civic Center puts the finishing touches on its ice—currently in the exciting stages of building and painting, slated to open for the season on September 5, 2023—there’s another buzz of excitement in the air. The Canandaigua Knights Youth Hockey (CKH) organization is gearing up for their annual “Icebreaker” event, and it promises to be an evening full of entertainment for the whole family. Mark your calendars for September 15, 2023, starting at 6 pm for this incredible community gathering.
Icebreaker Event: A Community Tradition
CKH has meticulously planned a range of activities that cater to all ages and interests:
- FREE Open Skate: With the ice freshly laid and ready, this is a golden opportunity to be among the first to glide on it this season.
- Off-Ice Hockey Activities: Various skill-building exercises are available for enthusiasts to refine their game off the ice.
- Street Hockey: Who says you need ice to play hockey? Get in on the street action!
- Bounce House: A fun diversion that is always popular among younger attendees.
- Food Trucks: Tantalize your taste buds with offerings from local food trucks.
- Movie at Dark: Wind down the evening with a family-friendly film under the stars.
Special Notice for CKH Players

Star-Studded Guest Appearances
CKH has enlisted the participation of some extraordinary guests for this year’s Icebreaker event. Jerry D’Amigo, a former NHL & AHL player for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabers, will be present to share his experiences and expertise.
